Just in time for summer, Saints has taken a fresh approach to the cask wine category by offering their quality wine in the convenience of a cask.
In a move that’s sure to excite their fans, Saints guarantees that the wine in the new cask range is exactly the same product which is found in their established bottle equivalents.
“Saints is an award winning brand with the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc recently gaining gold at the New World Wine Awards. This demonstrates the brand has an excellent pedigree”. Says Kate Fisken, Saints Brand Manager.
“By using the same wine across both our Saints bottle and cask ranges, we are confident we will help overcome some of the existing perceptions surrounding cask wine.” Says Miss Fisken.
This expansion of the Saints range is designed to meet consumer demand for wine from a trusted bottle brand to be made available by the cask.
“It’s a bold move, but we see this as being comparable to the introduction of screw caps into the New Zealand market in 2001 – a risk for the initiators at the time, but now widely accepted, “she says.
The new Saints 1.5 litre cask wine range offers New Zealand sourced Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay variants, with a Merlot Cabernet completing the range.
The Saints cask range enters the market with a contemporary look with the smaller pack size better suited to storage in the fridge, picnic hampers and the chilly bin.
As a product, cask wine is well-known for its ability to stay fresh in the fridge for up to 30 days after opening, thus making it the perfect choice for occasions when bottled wine is not appropriate.
In addition to Saints, parent company Lion has also released three cask products under the Jackman Ridge brand. The Smooth Red, Medium White and Dry White blends are available in 2 litre packs.
“Entering the cask wine market has been a significant step for us and we are confident our new cask products will provide consumers with an opportunity to drink good wine in any format,” says Miss Fisken.
With a long, hot summer on the cards, there’s never been a better time to take a fresh look at cask wine.
