CRAWFORD FARM WINES – TASTING NOTES…
 
2009 Crawford Farm Sauvignon Blanc

Colour: Straw yellow with pale green hues
Aroma: Fresh punchy Marlborough style Sauvignon Blanc displaying characters of lifted tropical fruits with herbaceous notes
Palate: Zesty combination of capsicum, currant and luscious tropical flavours. A mouth-filling drop with wonderful length and persistence
Food Match: Anything, everything or nothing – a wine for all occasions
Cellar: up to 4 years
Production notes:
Grapes for this wine were chosen from vineyard blocks across Marlborough, with a large percentage sourced from the Awatere subregion, resulting in a myriad of flavours that are both powerful and pungent. Minimal leaf plucking was adopted across the board retaining fresh vibrancy in the fruit and ultimately the wine. The wine was fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks to ensure freshness and increase fruit intensity.
 
2008 Crawford Farm Merlot
Colour: Hues of deep red and purple
Aroma: An intensely fruit forward nose of blackberries and plums
Palate: A soft, rounded palate with well integrated velvety tannins
Food: Match red meat dishes
Cellar: Three to five years
Production notes:
Fruit for the 2008 Crawford Farm Merlot was sourced from the warmer North Island region of Hawke’s Bay, now famous for producing outstanding examples of Bordeaux varietals. This Merlot is no exception. Fruit of optimum ripeness was fermented on skins for 14 days with regular cap mixing to produce a wine rich in colour and flavour. With the added benefit of 100% malolactic fermentation and subtle French Oak (25% barrel maturation) the wine has a soft and satisfying mouth feel with plenty of texture and complexity.
