It`s a world first for SUBWAY restaurants, is making ordering your favourite SUBWAY meal a whole lot easier, and is currently the most downloaded free iPhone application in New Zealand. Developed right here in Aotearoa, SUBWAY New Zealand is the first country in the world to launch the innovative new SUBWAY Express iPhone application.
Created by New Zealand mobile technology development company Altaine, the SUBWAY Express™ iPhone application allows customers to order with ease using a highly-specialised system installed on iPhones or iPod Touches. Allowing customers to order, pick up and pay, the new SUBWAY Express iPhone application will also locate the customer`s closest SUBWAY store, allow them to save their favourite order or reorder exactly what they had last time. It also features imagery from the SUBWAY menu, enabling customers to easily upgrade a meal and can link with customers` Subcards allowing them to easily view their loyalty and gift balances.
“The entire SUBWAY menu can now fit into a pocket or purse,” says Jo Gelb, Director of Business Development at Altaine. “This means they have the freedom to place a SUBWAY order within minutes, regardless of their location.” “SUBWAY Express effectively eliminates waiting in line and delivers a new level of convenience – and we do it via consumers` most popular technology device – the mobile phone.”
“New Zealander`s are the fastest adopters of new technology and penetration of iPhones is among the highest in the world` says Brian Tap, Regional Director of SUBWAY Asia Pacific. “We`ve had incredible success with the SUBWAY Express for mobile and online – the iPhone application is a natural progression from these current platforms.”
The new SUBWAY Express iPhone application features include:
• Order placement from the full SUBWAY menu
• Favourite and recent orders are saved allowing regular orders to be placed in seconds
• GPS based restaurant location – customers can easily locate their closest SUBWAY restaurant
• Customers can easily keep track of their current SUBCARD loyalty and gift balances
• Directions to a restaurant from current location
• A user-friendly interface presenting the SUBWAY menu options in an innovative and convenient manner
The Subway Express iPhone application complements the existing Altaine Txt, Web and Mobile ordering services in use by SUBWAY for the past 5 years making SUBWAY New Zealand`s first quick service restaurant to offer text ordering.
New Zealand`s success has sparked interest globally for the SUBWAY franchise. Altaine has developed iPhone and online systems for SUBWAY in the UK and conversations are underway to further develop these systems for other international markets.
Closer to home, SUBWAY Express is constantly being developed by Altaine to meet SUBWAY customers` requirements.
“We are working to have Kiwis using their Subcard points balance to pay for their order,” says Tap. “We`re constantly developing software that makes ordering Subway a more accessible option. There are many more plans in the pipeline that we`ll be rolling out soon.”
Last year, Altaine picked up two awards at the MOTODEV Widget Developer Challenge for their development and conception of SUBWAY Express for mobile. SUBWAY Express won first place in the Best Local Content for Europe/Middle East/Africa category and second place in the worldwide Best Widget for Shopping category.
