Don`t miss the 6th annual Whitianga Scallop Festival is this weekend, Saturday 28 August.

A great line up of entertainment has been confirmed, from `the Con-Rays, featuring Eddie Raynor and Paul Crowthers from Split Enz, to the winner of New Zealand Master Chef Brett McGregor and the judge that helped get him there Celebrity Chef Ray McVinnie.

Niki Wickes from the TV show World Kitchen will also be taking up a challenge with Brett and Ray. Dave Sparks promises `that over the three music stages, one cooking stage, lots of roving entertainment, over 60 food stalls and a complimentary glass or beer vessel, there`s a lot to take in.

With the recent media publicity regarding the shellfish ban on the east coast of the North Island, Public Health has advised all scallops commercially dredged for the Whitianga Scallop Festival will be sourced from an accredited area outside the banned area.

Festival coordinator Dave Sparks adds `Scallops are fattening up nicely and will be plump and succulent for the festival`.
