… It is food and wine! Coming up Sunday 26th September is the fabulous Feast of Akaroa, showcasing local produce and wines.
In 2010 there is no French Fest for Canterbury, so Akaroa District Promotions is organising an Akaroa Community Food and Wine Fest to celebrate the start of the new season.
This ‘Feast of Akaroa’ will be an expansion of the regular Akaroa Farmers Market, plus community and local business stalls with a focus on Akaroa food and beverage products and selected other regional food participants not represented locally.
It will be a free event for the public held on the Recreation Grounds with children’s activities, entertainment and a marquee for people to sit and relax and enjoy food purchased.
The Akaroa team are really excited at the forthcoming Feast of Akaroa and the variety of stall holders plus our special entertainers for the day.
They have been fortunate to secure Heather Mitchell, renowned piano accordionist who is then off to an international music festival in Italy, and Dr Sanchez, Latin guitarist, who has played all over Europe and Australasia. It is the first time in Akaroa for both of these musicians so will be a treat for them and Fest attendees alike.
The ‘Feast of Akaroa’ will be held on Sunday 26 September, which is the first Sunday of the school holidays. It will run from 10am until 2pm.
Everyone are welcome!
