New Monkey Bay Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc Pinot Gris is a beautiful pale green sparkling wine with an intense and vibrant nose of passionfruit and citrus zest that leaps out of the glass, carried by the fine bead of bubbles.

Monkey Bay’s refreshing new bubbly combines the fresh crisp fruit flavours of sauvignon blanc with the rich texture of pinot gris for the best of both worlds.

Hawkes Bay enjoyed a cool summer and a settled autumn with low rainfall, and the grapes for this 77:23 Sauvignon Blanc/Pinot Gris blend were picked in late April at optimum ripeness.

ORIGINS OF MONKEY BAY:
Monkey Bay wines take their name from a bay on the coast of Marlborough, where,
according to legend, a monkey lived in the late 19th century.

VINIFICATION:
Hawke’s Bay enjoyed a coolish summer, and a settled autumn with low rainfall. 

Picked in April at optimum ripeness, the grapes were crushed and de-stemmed, then direct pressed with no skin contact. The clarified juice was fermented at cool temperature using selected yeast strains, and the wine was racked off yeast lees
directly after primary fermentation.
 
COLOUR:
Light straw with green hues.
 
AROMA:
Vibrant aromas of ripe tropical fruits and citrus zest. 
 
PALATE:
This refreshing new bubbly combines Sauvignon Blanc’s tropical fruit flavours with the
rich texture of Pinot Gris. 
 
FOOD PAIRING:
A great summer wine, perfect as an aperitif, with salads, BBQ’s, or fish and chips
on the beach.
