Villa Maria Estate has been given a helping hand with their China export efforts having just been awarded two gold medals at the China Sommeliers Wine Challenge in Shanghai.
Both the Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2010 and the Villa Maria Cellar Selection Riesling 2008 took gold medals whilst silver was given to Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Noir 2008 and Villa Maria Cellar Selection Chardonnay 2009.
Villa Maria’s Asia Market Manager Charlotte Read says recognition from Sommeliers who are well trained and influential in the luxury China wine market is an excellent boost for Villa Maria’s efforts.
“Winning gold medals in this prestigious show by these seriously talented international and Chinese sommeliers will provide us an excellent boost in the emerging Chinese wine market.”
New Zealand wine makes up just one per cent of China’s imported wine market where Villa Maria works with one of the leading premium wine importers in the country, Summergate Fine Wines and Spirits who were recipients of the best importer 2010 trophy at the same show.
