Launched in NZ in 1994, the 5+ A Day fruit and vege message has been part of the kiwi pysche for 16 years. Every November is also 5 + A Day month to raise even further awareness.
5+ A Day was launched in New Zealand in 1994 by the non-profit organization United Fresh NZ Incorporated and became a Charitable Trust in 2009.
The objective of 5+ A Day is to encourage all New Zealanders to eat and enjoy eating 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables every day for health, taste and variety.
This is in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines that recommend we eat five or more servings of fruit and vegetables each day.
Each November, the programme runs in extra-healthy mode with 5+ A Day month.
5+ A Day programmes run in about 28 countries.
