Take one ham, add this delicious maple glaze sauce, and you’re home and hosed for a big, mouth-watering family meal.
For Maple Glazed Ham, you will need:
1 cooked ham, bone-in
1 c maple syrup
2 1/2 tsp mustard
2 tbsp flour
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 c water
Preheat oven to 170° C.
Place ham on a rack in a roasting tray and bake for 1 hour.
Collect the meat juices in a small saucepan and place in freezer to solidify fat.
Pour maple syrup over the ham and return to oven. Bake 30 minutes longer, basting once with syrup from bottom of dish.
Take saucepan from freezer, skim off the fat and discard.
Whisk in mustard and sifted flour until smooth then add Worcestershire sauce and water and mix well.
Increase the oven temperature to 190° C. Baste ham again with dish juices.
Bake for another 15 minutes or until meat thermometer (inserted in the thickest part of meat, not touching bone) registers 60° C. Remove ham to a cutting board and let stand 15 minutes before carving.
Add the pan drippings to the saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking frequently. Gently boil the sauce for 3 minutes, until thickened.
Transfer sauce to a gravy boat or other serving dish and serve alongside the carved ham.
Serves 8 to 10 with leftovers.
