Our Fresh family had the new McCain Purely Potato tonight as little roasties and wow, how easy is it not having to peel, wash and cut the spuds for the family meal? It’s all been done for you! And being snap frozen, the all-important potassium and Vitamin C from the potatoes is retained. The new Purely Potato range is fabulous for a busy-bee family like ours.
The new McCain Purely Potato comes in: Purely Potato Chunks, Cubes and Slices as well as Kumara (or Sweet Potato) Chunks.
Perfect and yes, we don’t have all the time in the world, and yes, we need all the help we can get in the kitchen!
And good on them,McCain Foods has introduced potatoes already peeled, washed and cut, which can be stored in the freezer ready to use.
And these potatoes keep their freshness so there is no waste. They can be mashed, boiled or roasted within minutes making life easy for any household cook.
McCain have just announced their Gold Sponsorship of the New Zealand Silver Ferns and are proud to say that Purely Potato has the heart foundation tick of approval so they are a healthy, quick and delicious meal without the hassle.
The new range of frozen potatoes by McCain Foods – Purely Potato – consists of potato cubes, slices, chunks and also comes in sweet potato cubes, making it easy for budding household chefs to shine.
McCain Foods New Zealand marketing director Ms Nicki Anderson said this product retains all its nutritional attributes, giving time-poor cooks an extra advantage in the kitchen.
“This product is proving popular with households who want quick and convenient ideas for side dishes to accompany the evening meal. And it’s a healthy alternative that retains its quality and taste,” she adds.
“Another benefit of Purely Potato is that its longer life through freezing reduces the amount of food waste, which is always a plus for the household budget.”
Ms Anderson said that many consumers wrongly believed that frozen potatoes are less nutritious because they’re processed.
“But the process of freezing the potatoes leads to retention of their nutritional ingredients of potassium and Vitamin C for longer periods,” she said.
So, not only great news about the new product but what about McCain’s being the new Gold Sponsor of our Silver Ferns!? Awesome.
