They say make hay while the sun shines, and it seems that the Mac’s brewers have taken it literally with their limited edition release, Mac’s Hay Day – a 5.5% Farmhouse Ale.

Brewed using specialty French Saison Yeast, Mac’s Hay Day features a mixture of sweet, earthy, fruity, citrusy, almost clove-like character to create a deliciously unusual beer.

Described by the Mac’s team as “barnyard funk”, the refreshingly different Mac’s Hay Day will no doubt be the pick of the crop amongst adventurous Mac’s drinkers.

Mark Goldman from Mac’s says: “Saisons, or farmhouse ales, were originally brewed for farm workers in the French-speaking part of Belgium.  The workers were allowed up to five litres a day of these fruity, spicy, and slightly sour beers.  Unless you’ve actually just finished a hard day’s toil baling hay in a 19th century Belgian paddock, we’d suggest you just stick to a couple of glasses of this light, dry and deliciously refreshing historical quencher.”

Mac’s Hay Day is available on tap at Mac’s Brew Bars nationwide for a limited time.
