Want to go somewhere really special this Valentines Day? Hawke’s Bay boutique hotel Mangapapa has been announced as a winner in the Travellers’ Choice awards.  These are the highest honor TripAdvisor can give – meaning Mangapapa Hotel is truly exceptional, based on the reviews and opinions from travellers. The award has secured the hotel’s position in the top 1% of hotels for 2017.

First built in 1885, Mangapapa has a history of food and romance. The name ‘Mangapapa’ itself means ‘fertile land’, and after several incarnations, the homestead was bought in 1946 by Sir James Wattie to grow fruit and veg for his now-thriving canning business. He and his wife Gladys moved into the house in 1950.

In 2015, Mangapapa underwent extensive renovations, and today Mangapapa Hotel offers the finest luxury accommodation in its twelve magnificent suites. Together with the renowned restaurant, spa retreat, and facilities such as the pool and lawn tennis court, Mangapapa delivers Hawke’s Bay’s ultimate luxury experience.  Award-winning Executive Chef Paul Condron maintains a paddock to plate philosophy in the Mangapapa Kitchen, inspired by local produce and offering guests exceptional menus with flair and creativity.

The five categories Mangapapa was acknowledged for were:

Top 25 Small Hotels – South Pacific
Top 25 Luxury Hotels – South Pacific
Top 25 Small Hotels – New Zealand
Top 25 Hotels for Romance – New Zealand
Top 25 Luxury Hotels – New Zealand

The other exciting accomplishment is that Mangapapa is ranked 5th best small hotel in South Pacific, this includes all hotels in Australia, New Zealand & Fiji  & again 16th best luxury hotel in South Pacific.  Manager David Thompson says, “The team here are immensely proud of the Trip Advisor wins in multiple categories. It speaks volumes as to what we have as a team achieved since the renovation.”
