Whether you’re making the most of the opportunity to have an eleven day holiday – thanks to Easter and Anzac day falling on consecutive weekends – or you’re simply popping away for a few days of well deserved R&R, Sacred Hill is helping to inspire a moment of discovery by sharing their favourite places to enjoy a glass of wine this Easter.
Waimarama – It’s only fair that Sacred Hill kick off the list off with their favourite spot in the Hawke’s Bay. Wether you are a local or an out of towner, Waimarama is a sought after golden sand Eastern beach. Just twenty minutes from Havelock North, it’s a great spot to enjoy a picnic, a dip in the ocean (if you’re still feeling brave) and a spot of fishing.
Location’s ideal wine: 2015 Sacred Hill Special Selection Wine Thief Chardonnay
Lake Tekapo – If you’ve resigned yourself to the fact that the last of the summer rays are behind us then look no further than this idyllic South Island town. Home to the Church of the Good Sheppard, Lake Tekapo boasts truly jaw dropping scenery regardless of the season. Boasting one the best night skys in the WORLD and sporting a brand new hot pools complex (Tekapo Springs) overlooking the lake, this is the perfect spot to enjoy the cooler autumn climate.
Location’s ideal wine: 2015 Sacred Hill HALO Marlborough Pinot Noir
D’Urville Island (Marlborough sound) – A favourite getaway spot in the Marlborough area is D’Urville Island, the perfect place to get away from it all. Although it’s a little bit more intrepid – you will have to take a water taxi to get here – there is nothing comparable to waking up with the views that the island boasts and listening to the abundance of native birds that call the island home, thanks to its possum free status.
Location’s ideal wine: 2016 Sacred Hill Orange Label Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Raglan – Head to the West Coast this Easter. With the constant smell of the ocean, the wild landscape and the cute local finds to discover this is the perfect place to let go and totally relax. If you love surfing, check out the multiple surf spots dotted along the coast. If you’re learning, grab a lesson with Raglan surf school and learn some sweet moves. If Surfing isn’t your thing, there’s so much on offer: take a walk down to the breathtaking Bridal Veil Falls, grab something to eat from the plethora of restaurants, or simply sit down and enjoy some people watching, Raglan draws a laidback and eclectic crowd.
Location’s ideal wine: 2015 Sacred Hill Reserve Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay
Waipu – Pack your bags and get away to this often-overlooked gorgeous costal town. Catch some waves, embark on the Waipu heritage trail by car, or the coastal track to Langs beach on foot. Add the nearby Piroa Falls to your to do list and explore the inland Waipu caves too. Finish the day with a quiet picnic on the beach or with a hearty meal at the local RSA or the Pizza Barn (if you don’t mind a bit of a wait).
