Weleda are thrilled to announce that Auckland’s Simone Anderson is the New Zealand finalist in the Weleda Global Garden competition. Simone will travel to Schwäbisch Gmund, Germany in October to represent New Zealand and compete in a variety of content and creativity challenges alongside 15 other finalists from around the globe. The global winner will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, three-month, carbon-neutral journey to 11 Weleda locations including Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Brazil, and the Czech Republic.
In 2014, Simone Anderson began sharing her weight-loss story across Instagram and Facebook under ‘Simone’s Journey to Health’. She quickly gained a large and loyal following as she shared her unique and honest perspective on health and lifestyle choices.
“My sole reason to enter was the incredible opportunity for growth in myself and I love the ethics of Weleda. This will be a great opportunity over a week to make some great friendships and learn and communicate about Weleda. I am so excited to be travelling to a great location and represent New Zealand and I am so appreciative for the opportunity” says Simone Anderson.
Simone was chosen by the Weleda NZ team after a lengthy process in which applicants were required to be voted into the top six nationally before the Weleda NZ team selected the finalist. Simone was selected as the winner against criteria which included values, creativity, communication style, personality and social reach.
Simone was one of 36 valid New Zealand applicants who collectively attracted 5,772 votes. Weleda found Kiwi voters were more engaged with the New Zealand applicants, who attracted more votes than their counterparts in the United Kingdom, USA and Australia.

The 16 finalists will enjoy four days of workshops and interactive presentations at the Weleda offices in Schwäbisch Gmund. They will learn about Weleda practices including how they source, grow and harvest their unique ingredients and the philosophy that underpins everything the company does. They will attend product demonstrations and expert led workshops, and get to showcase their talent, after which the overall Weleda Global Garden Winner will be named. The talented and lucky person will travel inside the world of Weleda in 2018 as they travel to 11 countries, meeting the gardeners and growers, learning about the natural plant ingredients, bee projects, spa treatments as they spend a few days with each Weleda team along the way. This is an all expenses paid journey of discovery with flights, accommodation, meals and €10,000 spending money all included.
