Devonport Chocolates owner Stephanie Everitt says: “We have very distinctive flavours in the Pacific and at Devonport Chocolates we want to acknowledge our region’s uniqueness. Our Samoan Trinitario single origin chocolate, made using Samoan cacao sourced from Nusi Moa Maualaivao, our supplier of Samoan beans from The Moa Estate, is proving very popular. For us the next step was to develop a vegan-friendly milk chocolate with that cacao to meet the massive increase in our customers wanting a vegan option.

“A significant factor in developing this chocolate was to find a milk product that was completely dairy-free and safe for people with dairy intolerance. The answer came in a coconut milk powder that contains absolutely no dairy; the challenge though was to make a chocolate with it that would set. You’ll notice that the texture of our Samoan Trinitario Cacao Coconut Milk is slightly softer while being very smooth and creamy with subtle earthy tones and the unforgettable taste of the Pacific – coconut.”
