Founded in 1934, Montana is one of the original wine brands of New Zealand, first appearing on shelves in the early 1940’s. The Montana name was inspired by the mountain ranges that protected the original vineyard – a small block in the Waitakere Ranges, west of Auckland – and quickly grew to become a household name in New Zealand.
From these humble beginnings, Montana’s success continued as the range of quality wines was extended. Vineyards were established in other regions where winemakers carefully matched grape varieties to best express the area, producing wines of exceptional character.
