Wagamama is delighted to receive the Heart Foundation’s approval for its kids’ menu, created on the principle that children should have access to delicious and nutritious food when dining out with their families, as opposed to the traditional deep-fried chips or standard chicken nuggets.

Wagamama marketing manager Louisa Keddell says it was important for the brand to offer healthier alternatives for kiwi kids and is great to meet the initiative’s strict criteria.

“With many parents becoming more health conscious and always wanting the best for their children, providing interesting, healthier and nutritious meals that appeal to children was a natural decision for us at Wagamama,” says Keddell.

“Japanese food is incredibly diverse, delicious and highly nutritious, and there is no reason why children should not enjoy it when out with their parents. So we have worked with the not-so acquired palette of children and created a menu that still offers both the Japanese cuisine and simple flavours and textures children love for ‘little noodlers’ Wagamama’s next generation of customers,” she adds.

What is Kids’ Choice?

Kids’ Choice is a menu endorsement programme run by the Heart Foundation for food services that offer healthier choices to children. Recipes on children’s menus that meet the Heart Foundations strict criteria are eligible to have the kids’ choice logo printed next to them on the menu, along with the logo and explainer at the bottom of the menu.
