Bakers Delight New Zealand has raised $45,156 for KidsCan with its nationwide Finger Bun fundraising campaign.

From 3-23 May, thousands of iced Finger Buns covered with red and blue sprinkles were sold throughout the brand’s bakeries. By the end of the fundraiser, 20,000 KidsCan Finger Buns and 4,500 Mini Finger Bun 4-Packs had been snapped up.

$1 from every KidsCan Finger Bun and $2 from every KidsCan Mini Finger Bun 4-Pack were donated to KidsCan.

Bakers Delight had aimed to raise at least $30,000. However, the bakeries have smashed that target by more than $15,000. The funds will go towards providing Kiwi kids in need with essential basics like raincoats, shoes and socks.

Many of the bakeries put up red and blue decorations to celebrate the initiative. A Super Hero Saturday on 19 May provided another opportunity to encourage donations, with a number of bakeries hiring super hero actors to engage with customers.

“We are so proud of our bakeries,” says James Morton, Bakers Delight New Zealand Country Manager. “They gave their all to this fundraising campaign and were determined to raise as much money as possible for New Zealand children living in hardship.”

“Many of them have close relationships with schools in their area and know how difficult it is for kids and families that are struggling,” he added. “It has meant a lot to our bakers to be able to give back to their local communities, and to be able to help some of the most vulnerable members of our society.”

KidsCan is a Charitable Trust  that provides food, clothing and basic health care in schools to enable Kiwi kids living in hardship to reach their full potential. The organisation currently works with over 700 low decile schools across New Zealand.

The Bakers Delight fundraising initiative for KidsCan was the first step in a new charity partnership between Bakers Delight and KidsCan. The bakery brand has a number of other in-store fundraising drives, customer promotions and events in the pipelines for the next 12 months.
