Just in time to warm up winter, Auckland breakfast cereal producer Te Atatu Toasted has launched a grain-free dairy-free porridge suitable for vegans and those on paleo or keto eating plans.

Made with carefully selected seeds, coconut and nuts, the porridge also contains cinnamon, ginger and cardamom combined with coconut milk powder to give it a unique flavour and delicious creaminess.

Te Atatu Toasted founder Clare Robinson says she wanted to create a winter breakfast choice for porridge lovers who can’t eat oats or other grains because of special dietary requirements. The porridge is also perfect for those following a low-carb, high-fat diet, and is low in sugar (5.9g per 100g).

“All ingredients in this cereal are picked and combined for their nutritional value as well as taste,” she says. “Because it’s nutritionally dense, you only need a third of a cup to make a yummy, satisfying breakfast.”

It’s made in the same way as traditional porridge, in the microwave or on the stove-top, but with slightly less liquid. Serve it with berries and thick coconut yoghurt or add your own favourite porridge toppings.
