Bringing together the bubbling natural springs, lush green landscapes of Costa Rica and coffee processes unique to the region, Nespresso’s new, world-exclusive, Limited Edition Master Origin Costa Rica takes Kiwi coffee lovers on a journey of discovery.

While most may never travel from New Zealand to the high hills of Costa Rica, Nespresso’s new Limited Edition coffee offers the next best thing – an insight into the local talents and craftsmanship of the country’s land.

The process used to make Master Origin Costa Rica was created by local farmer and roaster Edgar Saldago and involves a unique washing method that produces a delicately balanced coffee with malty, sweet, and cereal notes.

Selectively handpicked from the Central Highlands of Costa Rica, coffee beans are soaked in natural hyperthermal mineral water for twelve hours. Taken from a volcano, the water is cooled from 65-70C to 40-42C before the beans are placed in to soak. During the soaking time the natural minerals thoroughly cleanse the beans and enhance their finest characteristics, creating a perfectly balanced and clean taste.

In 2018 only a few containers of the Limited Edition Master Origin Costa Rica were produced, and it’s also sustainability sourced thanks to the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program which connects Nespresso directly with farmers to build sustainable farming practices and provide benefits for farming communities. As a result, Nespresso’s local farmers in Costa Rica are supported in their business and the coffee is of a consistently superior quality.

Thanks to this collaboration, Nespresso can offer Kiwi coffee connoisseurs this rare coffee experience mastered by craftsmen and inspired by the land.

High in Costa Rica’s mountains, only a small selection of Arabica coffee beans are soaked in rainforest hot spring waters. The scarcity of this Limited Edition offers Nespresso lovers an insight into a rare coffee with distinct malty, sweet, and cereal notes.

Limited Edition Master Origin Costa Rica is part of the wider Master Origin coffee collection which includes coffee from the forested mountains of Sumatra through to the highland vales of Nicaragua. Each of the five permanent coffees in the collection has been on a unique journey of discovery and processing. While these five Master Origin coffees are available to Nespresso Club Members permanently, the Master Origin Costa Rica is available from 18th March 2019 for a limited period from Nespresso boutiques, as well as through orders from the Nespresso Customer Care Centres and online at www.nespresso.com.
