Johnny Di Francesco, founder of 400 Gradi is continuing to take the world by storm! Once again, he’s been awarded the best Pizzeria in Oceania – for a second consecutive year!

With the official announcement made on the evening of Wednesday 24th of July at the 50 Top Pizza Gala in Naples, Italy, Johnny proudly accepted this award on behalf of 400 Gradi.

Held for the third year, the curated event compared almost 1,000 pizzerias from Italy and regions around the world. Each pizza restaurant has been secretly evaluated to determine the best 50, with 400 Gradi taking out the top spot in the entire Oceanic region.

This is one of many titles under his belt for winter 2019, after recently also being awarded the second best pizzeria in the world in the Olimpiadi Vera Pizza Napoletana contest held by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AKA The True Neapolitan Pizza Association).

Di Francesco put up a tough fight, with each of the fellow top five restaurants all-residing in the home of the traditional Neapolitan pizza – Napoli, Italy. In fact, all of Johnny’s restaurants in Australia managed to make it into the top eight.

The association put it to the public first, allowing any pizza lover to vote for their three favourite pizzerias. Then with careful consideration from key judges in the industry, the results were adjusted accordingly and there you have it – 400 Gradi holds second best pizzeria in the world, and number one in Oceania, again.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to bring the authentic taste of Naples to the mouths of Australians. Staying true to tradition is something I’ll never sacrifice, so being acknowledged by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, still after ten years is such an accomplishment!” says Di Francesco.

Recent new additions to Johnny’s trophy cabinet include:

Best Pizzeria in Oceania
2nd best pizzeria in the world in, Olimpiadi Vera Pizza Napoletana.
1st Place Pizza Fritta
3rd Place in the Australian Pizza Olympics

From humble beginnings in Melbourne, Australia, Johnny has expanded his pizza empire around the globe. New Zealanders can find their own 400 Gradi in the heart of the newly redesigned Auckland Airport. The award-winning complex houses many world-renowned restaurants, though 400 Gradi is undoubtedly the jewel in their crown.
