German luxury kitchen brand Gaggenau has become the naming rights sponsor of Sid at The French Café’s popular monthly Tuesday Test Kitchen event, after signing a three-year deal with the fine dining restaurant.
Gaggenau is the leader in luxury home appliances inspired by professional cooking technology. Through Gaggenau’s partnership with Chef Sid, guests have the opportunity to experience the unparalleled difference in craftsmanship, design and performance that stems from the very source of inspiration – the Gaggenau kitchen.
Now known as the Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen, diners will again be able to enjoy a taste of all three of chef Sid Sahrawat’s award-winning restaurants – Sidart, [cassiarestaurant.co.nz]Cassia and Sid at the French Café – under the one roof.
The Test Kitchen concept is designed for Sid and his chefs to innovate new dishes and solicit feedback from diners. Taking place on the first Tuesday of each month, two dishes from each restaurant will be prepared for diners in Sid at The French Cafe’s private dining room, The French Kitchen.
Over the course of the evening, guests will get to see Sahrawat doing what he does best, as he and his team cook, plate and introduce each dish in a kitchen that has been newly fitted with a range of Gaggenau appliances.
Gaggenau sales manager Sara Isherwood says the company is also excited about the new working relationship ahead.
“We’re thrilled to have Sid on board and using our range of Gaggenau kitchen appliances,” she says.
“Gaggenau is strongly attuned to exclusive culinary culture, hence the partnership with Chef Sid is a true example of a collaboration that celebrates talent and the finest New Zealand ingredients”.
Sahrawat says he’s pleased to be partnering with Gaggenau for the events which he says are like going to a dinner parties hosted in his home. “I’ve always associated Gaggenau with high end, quality appliances with great engineering and aesthetics, they deliver on both form and function, so I’m excited to be working with their appliances in The French Kitchen,” he says.
“Because we cook for around 30, we can use Gaggenau’s domestic appliances and they are perfect for smaller groups and events. The high spec and quality of the steam ovens enable our team to experiment and innovate using technology that results in precisely executed dishes.
“Our cultural belief is “Athithi devo bhava” which translates to “guest is equal to god”. Myself and my wife Chand run our restaurants on this belief and the Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen is a true expression of this. Guests are welcomed as if they were coming to the Sahrawat home; the experience is warm and informal, I introduce each dish and help deliver to the guests.“
The menu for the Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen will change each month as it delivers a taste of the cuisines available across the entire Sahrawat stable. Priced at $175 per person, the Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen includes canapés, the six feature dishes and the choice of a glass of champagne, Seedlip cocktail or beer on arrival, as well as Vittoria water and tea or coffee.
The Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen resumes for 2020 on February 4 and will continue on March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, September 1, October 6 and November 3.
