Apple Crisp
Cheap, cheerful and the perfect recipe for beginner baking. This divine but oh-so-simple Apple Crisp recipe is a winner. Healthy too.
Serves 6
For the best Apple Crisp, you will need:
6 large apples, cored and sliced (golden delicious or granny smith are a great choice)
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup flour
6 tablespoons butter
How to make Apple Crisp:
Stir orange juice over apple slices and coat well. Arrange apples in a greased baking dish.
Combine half of the sugar and the cinnamon, sprinkle over the apples.
Then combine remaining sugar with flour and salt, and cut in butter until mixture becomes crumbly.
Spread crumb mixture over apples and bake at 150 degrees for 45 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned.
Serve warm.
Cook’s Tip: This recipe is also really great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream… or warm custard or even whipped cream!) You can stew apples before hand. I use this over many fruits, not just apples. Whatever is on hand and just make the topping if they are already stewed. A cheap and easy pudding!
