Raw Energy Slice with Nutella

Easy Raw Energy Slice with Nutella

This sweet, no-bake, energy slice with Nutella will go down a treat. The Nutella hazelnut spread in the recipe makes it simple and fast as well as being better for you than chocolate.

Hazelnuts are a low GI food source and the addition of oats in this slice is perfect for energy. Nutella is made with skim milk and has no artificial colours or preservatives. My kids adore it.

Serves: 12

Ingredients

110g NZ butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
1/2 cup runny honey
1/2 cup raisins or sultanas
3 cups rolled oats

Method

  1. Mix the butter, sugar, Nutella and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil whilst stirring constantly.
  2. Reduce the heat and stir until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in mixed oats and raisins and combine well.
  5. Press the mixture into a tray lined with baking paper, gladwrap or foil and refrigerate until firm.
  6. Cut into slices or cubes to serve.

Slice tips:

  • For the 3 cups of rolled oats, you could choose your favourite muesli or a mix of different seeds and oats to suit you.
  • This slice may also be frozen for extra firm chunks or to make it last the entire school term to give the kids natural energy.
