Moist dark chocolate orange cake
Those of us who love chocolate cake know what a spectacular cake should taste like: chocolatey, sweet and—above all— moist. Here's a fool-proof recipe so you can create the perfect cake.

- 1 ½ cups flour
- 1 ¼ cups sugar
- ½ cup cocoa
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp softened butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1 large orange zest and juice
Chocolate frosting
- 1 tsp softened butter
- 1 tbsp cocoa
- 1 ¼ cups icing sugar
- 1 orange zest and juice
- 1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Line 20cm round cake tin with foil or baking paper.
Place all the cake ingredients in a large bowl.
Stir well to combine.
Mix with electric beaters until creamy.
Bake approximately one hour, or until the skewer comes out clean.
Remove from oven and cool completely.
Place all frosting ingredients in a bowl (except orange juice). Add the orange juice by tablespoon until you reach the desired consistency.
Ice the cake once it has cooled. You can ice the centre also by slicing it through the middle.
