Kahawai Miso Tataki

Tataki is a kind of Sashimi. A popular method of Japanese preparation for raw fish. Fragrant vegetables and herbs such as spring onion, shiso leaves, garlic and ginger are topped to raw fish and mixed together with a knife before eating,  just like a tartare steak.  Just caught fresh Kahawai is divine served as Miso Tataki.

Notes

Chika's tip: Use soy sauce and lemon juice instead of Miso for a variation. The word Tataki means to tap, to knock or to bang. I remembered this dish as I spent a real New Zealand Summer Holiday at my friend's batch on the Kina Penunisila on top of the South Island. Thank you, Hiromi and Dave!
