Fried Green Tomatoes Healthy Food Ideas
Not just a brilliant chick-flick from 1991, Fried Green Tomatoes are also a delicious breakfast dish. If your tomatoes have come to end, collect up the green ones and give this recipe a whirl.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 3 firm green tomatoes med- large size
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ½ cup flour
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • â…” cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Cut unpeeled tomatoes into 1.5 cm slices.
  • Sprinkle slices with salt and pepper and stand for approximately 10 mins.
  • Place flour, milk, eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow dishes.
  • Heat a small amount of olive oil in a frying pan to a medium heat.
  • Dip tomato slices in milk, then flour, then eggs, then bread crumbs and then fry for 5 mins on each side or until golden brown.
  • Only do a few slices at a time adding more oil each time as needed.
  • A great accompaniment to the big breakfast fry up or enjoyed on their own.
