Easy homemade churros
Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Roll them in cinnamon sugar or dip them in chocolate sauce. The world is your churro!
Ingredients
- 1 cup water 250ml
- 60 g unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 145 g plain flour
- 1 egg large
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- vegetable oil for deep frying
Cinnamon and sugar coating
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- chocolate sauce
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to medium temperature.
- Churros batter: In a saucepan combine the water, butter, and sugar. Bring to the boil.
- Add in the flour and reduce the heat to medium. Cook stirring consistently with a spatula until the mixture comes together to form a smooth dough.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl to cool. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes. Using an electric beater beat in the egg and vanilla. Blend till the dough comes together.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Taking care of the hot oil, pipe the dough into the hot oil. Use a clean scissor to cut the churros.
- Fry till golden brown approximately 2 minutes on either side. When the churros are done, transfer onto paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
- Toss the churros in Sugar and cinnamon coating.
- Best enjoyed straightaway dipped in chocolate sauce.
