Chifles—Thin Plantain Chips

Chifles are thinly sliced plantain chips, very popular snacks from Ecuador. These delicious chips are also called chicharitas, mariquitas, platanutres or platanias, depending on the Latin American country or region.  We fry ours in an Airfryer to make them healthier.

Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 12 minutes Serves: 4–6 as snack

  • 2 Dole Green Plantains
  • 1 tbsp Olivado Avocado Oil with Lime
  • Salt
To serve
  • Chipotle salt, store bought

  1. Cut the plantains in half, peel then slice thinly lengthwise.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced plantains with oil and some salt.
  3. Place in the airfryer basket and cook in the airfryer 170°C for 12 minutes until golden and crisp. Shake the basket a few times or turn the plantain slices during cooking. Sprinkle chipotle salt and serve.
