Blackberry Jam
This is a deliciously, healthy blackberry jam recipe. Spread this jam generously on your multigrain toast or healthy muffin and fall in love. If you can source your own berries fresh from a nearby field, picking them can be an adventure for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 500 g fresh blackberries hulled
- 500 g caster sugar or jam Setting Sugar
Instructions
- Stir berries and sugar together in a large bowl. Set aside for 1 hour.
- Transfer berry/sugar mix to a large pot and heat slowly.
- Increase heat and boil rapidly for 10-15 minutes until setting point is reached.
- Spoon into warm, sterilised jars and seal.
- Label and wow your friends and family with your homegrown cleverness.
Notes
To test if the jam reached setting stage: spoon a small amount of jam onto a cold plate and let cool. The jam is ready if it stays in two distinct halves when you run a finger through.
