Blackberry Jam

This is a deliciously, healthy blackberry jam recipe. Spread this jam generously on your multigrain toast or healthy muffin and fall in love. If you can source your own berries fresh from a nearby field, picking them can be an adventure for the whole family.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 500 g fresh blackberries hulled
  • 500 g caster sugar or jam Setting Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Stir berries and sugar together in a large bowl. Set aside for 1 hour.
  • Transfer berry/sugar mix to a large pot and heat slowly.
  • Increase heat and boil rapidly for 10-15 minutes until setting point is reached.
  • Spoon into warm, sterilised jars and seal.
  • Label and wow your friends and family with your homegrown cleverness.

Notes

To test if the jam reached setting stage: spoon a small amount of jam onto a cold plate and let cool. The jam is ready if it stays in two distinct halves when you run a finger through.
