Cracker chicken wings

Nothing says perfect Guy Fawke's Party nibble than a big plate of hot, sticky, crispy chicken wings. Add a little extra chilli for that fired up effect which makes for an ideal cracker party snack...

Ingredients
 
 

  • 20 chicken wings 1.5kg
  • ½ cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger or ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp five spice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 recipe party dip see below or your favourite pre-made dip

Instructions
 

  • Place wings in a plastic bag set open in a shallow dish. In a small bowl stir together soy sauce, ginger, chilli flakes, five spice powder and garlic. Pour over wings. Close bag and toss to coat. Chill in fridge several hours or overnight, turning bag occasionally. Remove wings from bag, reserving marinade.
  • Place wings on a foil-lined or baking paper lined baking tray. Bake, uncovered, in a 180°C oven for 10 minutes. Brush with reserved marinade (then discard remaining marinade).
  • Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until chicken is tender and no longer pink.
  • Serve with aioli or your favourite creamy dip.

Notes

Party tips:
Serve with this cracker of a homemade dip: In a small bowl stir together a standard pottle of sour cream plus 3 tablespoons seed mustard of your choice. Garnish with fresh whole chives.
For extra firecracker fun for a Guy Fawkes party, add some freshly chopped red chilli to the marinade. Chilli powder also works well.
