Fresh Strawberry Pie
Strawberries are the only fruit to grow its seeds on the outside! Families in 94% of NZ households eat strawberries so best you make a pie.
Ingredients
- 1 shop bought pastry shell (27cm) pre-baked
- 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled
- 4 tbsp water
- 200 g caster sugar
- ¼ cup cornflour
- pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- whipped cream to serve
Instructions
- Arrange 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled side down, in the pastry shell. Make a sauce with the remaining 2 cups of strawberries:
- Chop berries and heat them in a saucepan with sugar, water, cornflour and salt.
- Remove from heat when thickened and stir in butter. Wait for the sauce to cool and pour it over the strawberries in pastry shell.
- Chill for a few hours.
- Serve with whipped cream.
