This is a perfect party BBQ recipe. If you've never tackled making kebabs before, then these prawn kebabs are a great place to start, as there isn't much to them. Not a whole lot of prep and just an easy marinade two hours before you sizzle them up on the BBQ. These prawn kebabs are full of flavour, perfect for festive BBQs and absolutely delicious.

  • 600 g large prawns fresh or thawed from frozen
  • ¼ cup rice bran oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • Handful fresh parsley finely chopped


  • A couple of hours prior to barbecue, prepare the marinade.
  • Combine the rice bran oil, lemon juice, pepper, parsley and garlic in a bowl and mix well.
  • Pour the marinade into large, resealable bag.
  • Rinse and dry the prawns and add to the marinade bag.
  • Put into the fridge until ready to cook.
  • Remove the prawns from the bag of marinade.
  • Place the prawns onto the skewers, about five on each skewer.
  • Spray the grill lightly with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  • Add prawn kebabs and cook them for about 5 minutes, or until prawns just turn pink. Do not overcook.
  • Serve your kebabs over a bed of rice with fresh lemon wedges, or with a delicious BBQ vege medley.
