Strawberry vinegar
This recipe is a great way to use the strawberry heads instead of wasting them.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups strawberry heads
- 1 cup DYC white vinegar
- 2 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Wash your strawberries and place them in a clean jar.
- In a small saucepan, heat the vinegar just to the boiling point over medium heat.
- Pour the hot vinegar over the strawberries. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve.
- Let it come to room temperature before placing the lid on the jar.
- Store in a cool, dark place (like a pantry or basement) for 2 to 4 days depending on how strong you want the strawberry flavour to be.
- Strain and transfer the vinegar into a glass bottle.
- Store in the fridge for up to 3 months.
- Great to use in salad dressings, or try over ice cream!
